Volunteer
CA has a loyal core of volunteers, who provide direct service, answer “Ask an Accountant” questions, develop and present workshops and do technical review for CA publications. CA volunteers represent all aspects of the accounting and financial management profession. CA recruits volunteers from larger firms, although most of CA's current volunteers are sole proprietors or partners in small firms or corporations. Volunteers also hail from large nonprofits and government agencies. We also recruit new volunteers with the help of many organizations throughout the Delaware Valley region, including Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (18,000 members in PA), and the Institute of Management Accountants. Board placement volunteers are recruited from the financial community by mail, electronic mail and personal appeals.
CA's empowers volunteers who often move into positions of leadership in the organizations for which they volunteer. In addition, CA's philosophy of using volunteers rather than consultants or staff has positive consequences for the greater community. Volunteers consistently have reported that their volunteer experiences are important to them because it allows them to meet people that they would not meet otherwise. Their volunteer work puts them in a position to grow and learn from an extremely diverse group of clients
